Washington Street Bridge Work Closes Part Of Lower Riverwalk
The lower Naperville Riverwalk is closed under Washington Street Bridge as of Oct. 6 as crews make changes to the bridge's lane structure.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Part of Naperville's lower Riverwalk is closed beneath the Washington Street Bridge as of Oct. 6 as crews make changes to the lane structure of the bridge. The repair work comes after a recent inspection found deterioration on the bridge.
Pedestrians will notice barricades to the west of the bridge's underpass along the Riverwalk and upstairs on the bridge's east side.
Lane closures on Washington Street Bridge took effect Oct. 6, as the bridge's weight limit was lowered from 15 tons to eight tons.

Naperville plans to use funds from IDOT to replace Washington Street Bridge, with work expected to start in spring of 2023.
