Local teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for Welch ElementaryPTA.

Naperville | Welch Elementary School students gave teachers an A plus on their fundraising efforts to support the school's PTA.

Teachers from Naperville School District 204 volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, October 3rd at the McDonald's located on Rt. 59. The 28 Welch teachers worked hard to serve students and their families in a fundraiser for Welch Elementary School.

Mrs. Nowak, Principal of Welch Elementary School, and many of the Welch staff tended the giant apple pie costume during the night—switching off wearing the costume to entertain the guests.

Principal Nowak said, “Every day I am proud to be a Welch White Tiger and I feel like tonight exemplifies the community and friendship we have at Welch.”

The proceeds from the sale of 240 pies went directly to benefit Welch's PTA. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to Welch, which plans to put the money in the Welch PTA fund to support the students.

Nick Kory, Owner Operator of the Naperville McDonald's, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

"McTeacher's Night is part of McDonald's larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community," Kory said.

Kory is always looking for new opportunities to help the local communities surrounding his McDonald’s restaurants.

"We are proud to serve the families of the Welch community through the McTeacher's Night event," Kory continued. "In addition to help provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community."

Kory donated a case of apple pies to the school to sell at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher's Night, Kory has his sights on partnering with other schools in the Naperville area soon.

"Principal Nowak and all the teachers who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event are the fabrics that strengthen our community," Kory said.

A special thank you to Tonia Brock, Welch PTA President, who coordinated the entire event.

“Tonight’s event is raising money for the Welch PTA,” said Brock. “Parents and the Welch staff have teamed up to ensure a great turnout for our ‘Cooks Night Out’ kickoff. Our Principal, Sarah Nowak, is committed to our students and staff. Together, we embrace educating the whole student body via academic, social, and emotional growth. #welchiscommunity.”
