Witnesses Recount Naperville Teacher's Stabbing At Olaska Trial

Testimony continues on day three of the Daniel Olaska trial in DuPage County.

There was more testimony on Thursday from witnesses at Frankie’s Blue Room in the trail of a man accused of stabbing to death a 24-year-old Naperville teacher and wounding two other men in February 2012.

A friend of Shaun Wild’s warned him in the seconds before Daniel Olaska pounced on him in front of the stage of a downtown Naperville bar in the early morning hours of Feb. 4, 2012.

Samantha Doti told jurors in a DuPage County Courtroom where Olaska, 30, is on trial for first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder how Olaska in a manner that was “very aggressive and with a lot of force” before plunging the knife through Wild’s heart, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Wild ran after Olaska at Frankie’s Blue Room after he allegedly stabbed Willie Hayes in the chest in an attempt to catch him.

Bouncer Rafael Castenada testified how he had “grappled” with Olaska over the knife that was laying on dance floor, receiving a deep gash in his forearm.

Jurors also heard from an emergency room doctor at Edward Hospital who spoke of how the knife had completely penetrated Wild’s heart, the Chicago Tribune said.

Bradley Crackle described how he and Wild were both trying to talk Hayes to leave the booth after an angry exchange of words in the booth, the paper said. Olaska suddenly stood up and allegedly stabbed Hayes in the chest.

During his testimony on Wednesday, Hayes, who was seriously injured, recalled little of his exchange with Olaska on the stand, including his comment to Olaska about “drinking beer from a wine glass.”

Hayes admitted he was intoxicated the night he was stabbed.
