102 Cases Of Coronavirus Reported In New Lenox Area: County
The number of New Lenox's coronavirus cases increased by 14 cases over the past week.
NEW LENOX, IL — The number of New Lenox's coronavirus cases increased by 14 cases over the past week, according to data from the Will County Health Department. New Lenox (ZIP code 60451) has 102 cases as of May 26, compared to 88 cases on May 19, which represents a 15.9 percent increase in the past week.
New Lenox does have a nursing home facility which has reported cases, which could contribute to the total case count for the village. The Cottages of New Lenox has reported there have been two resident deaths at the facility and 11 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including nine employee cases. Cases at the facility have stagnated, as the total amount of cases did not increase with the release of the May 23 IDPH data.
Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox reported a slight increase of coronavirus inpatients at the hospital when compared to the week previous, according to data provided to Patch. As of May 21, the hospital told Patch it has 33 patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 12 persons under investigation. The amount of coronavirus patients at the hospital do not count toward New Lenox's total; they are counted at the place of their residence, according to the state.

Many businesses are moving toward reopening at the end of the week as Illinois moves into Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan. Last week, the New Lenox Public Library also announced it will begin curbside pick-up services on June 8.

IDPH is also reporting a total of 1,180 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60451.
In nearby towns in the Lincoln-Way area, both Mokena (ZIP code 60448) and Frankfort (ZIP code 60423) have more cases, with 113 and 122 cases, respectively, as of May 19. Manhattan (ZIP code 60442) has 38 cases, according to data from the county health department.
As of Tuesday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 113,195 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 4,923 Illinois residents. Health authorities do not provide the number of deaths by municipality. In Will County, there are 5,255 cases of the coronavirus and 259 related deaths.
