11 Cars Broken Into Overnight In New Lenox: Police

Car burglaries are being reported all over the south suburbs, including in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL — Eleven vehicles were burglarized overnight between March 20 and March 21, New Lenox Police said. The burglaries took place in the Crystal Cove, Wellington and Schoolhouse Manner neighborhoods. An officer tried to make contact with the driver of a suspicious vehicle in the area, but the car fled at a high rate of speed.

In some of the burglary cases, nothing was reported missing, however a laptop and an iPad were stolen during the incidents. In each case, the car was unlocked, police said. In cases where the owner believes the doors were locked, police could find no evidence of forced entry.

New Lenox Police did recently arrest three juveniles at 3:30 a.m. March 17. They were suspected of committing burglary to vehicles, but police said they were unable to develop sufficient evidence to connect them to any burglaries and they were issued citations for curfew violations and released to their parents.
