Can you believe all the car burglaries in New Lenox?

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your look at some of the recent criminal activity around the village of New Lenox during the past week, July 31 through August 5. The following information is courtesy of the New Lenox Police Department.
JULY 31
The officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of Grandview Drive in reference to a delayed burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight. Taken was cash and keys.

AUGUST 1
The officer was dispatched in reference to a delayed burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight in the 600 block of Columbia Drive. Taken was a backpack containing a cell phone and a video game system.

AUGUST 3
The officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Columbia Drive in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight. Taken were two purses.
On the same date, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Regent Street for a burglary complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the street overnight. Taken was approximately $5.
AUGUST 4
The officer was dispatched to the White Horse Inn at the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint. The complainant advised that someone broke their rear window while they were inside the business.
- Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Livingston Drive in reference to a criminal trespass to residence complaint. The complainant advised that two intoxicated males entered their home, through the unlocked front door and fled the residence when confronted by the complainant. A short time later, officers located the two offenders nearby. Further investigation revealed that the intoxicated offenders accidentally entered the victim’s residence believing it to be the home of one of their friend’s, who is a neighbor of the victim. The two men who were taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to a residence are: Jacob Zola, 21, 300 block of Monterey Drive, New Lenox and Matthew Vanderlugt, 27, of the 100 block of Hickory in New Lenox. Zola and Vanderlugt were transported to the NLPD where they posted bond and were released.
- Officers were sent to the 900 block of East Bentley Road for a burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle that was parked in their driveway and stole $1,000 worth of fishing gear. A neighbor reported seeing a man run from the area of the victim’s car to a waiting vehicle before fleeing the area.
- At 5:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7-11, 100 East Lincoln Highway, in reference to an armed robbery. The complainant advised that a male black dressed in all black clothing, wearing a black mask and hood, robbed the store of money and cigarettes while armed with a handgun.
- The officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Bentley Road in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their two unlocked vehicles that were parked in their driveway and stole loose change.
- The officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Bentley Road in reference to a Burglary to Motor Vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle that was parked in their driveway and stole a wallet containing cash and credit cards.
AUGUST 5
The officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of Regan Road in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicles that were parked in their driveway and stole credit cards. The complainant discovered the crime when they heard their garage door open. The complainant went to the garage and observed a man run from the garage. The complainant saw the offender run to a waiting car. The complainant noted the license plate of the vehicle and called the police. The vehicle that the offender ran to was reported stolen from Frankfort.
- The officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of Edmonds Avenue in reference to a Burglary to Motor Vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle that was parked in their driveway and stole a wallet containing cash and credit cards. Meanwhile, while the same officer was investigating this complaint, the officer observed a vehicle in a driveway with an open trunk. The officer made contact with the owner of the vehicle and learned that the owner parked the vehicle in the driveway and left it unlocked. Someone entered the vehicle and rummaged through the passenger compartment as well as the trunk. Nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.
- The officer investigating the car burglaries on Edmonds Avenue saw several items strewn across a driveway. The officer made contact with the residents and learned that someone had entered their unlocked vehicles which were parked in their driveway. Taken from the vehicle was cash, sunglasses, and clothing.
- The complainant advised that their golf clubs were stolen from the open bed of their pick-up truck while they were inside the White Horse Inn.
- The officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of London Road for a delayed burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight. Taken was an IPod and a phone charger.
- The officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of Edmonds Avenue in reference to a delayed burglary to motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle, which was parked on their driveway, and stole credit cards.
