Earlier this year, the U.S. Census Bureau released new, detailed demographic information from the 2010 Census in Illinois.

It's the most detailed counts available thus far and shows information on age, sex, households, families, race and more, including the ability to break down information to the block within a town.

Every week, we'll take a miscellaneous piece of information from the Census to help paint a picture of the people who make up New Lenox.

Today's Fact: About 88 percent of New Lenox residents drive a van or car to work. Here's a deeper look at the data: 

• 82 percent of those driving residents are in the car alone, while only 6 percent carpool. 
• 7 percent of New Lenox residents take public transportation. 
• 4.2 percent of people work from home.
• 51 percent of New Lenox residents work in Will County.
• 20.2 percent of residents have at least an hour commute to work. The next highest group is 20-24 minutes, or 13.2 percent.
