Earlier this year, the U.S. Census Bureau released new, detailed demographic information from the 2010 Census in Illinois.

It's the most detailed counts available thus far and shows information on age, sex, households, families, race and more, including the ability to break down information to the block within a town.

Every week, we'll take a miscellaneous piece of information from the Census to help paint a picture of the people who make up New Lenox.

Today's Fact: There are 40 same-sex households in New Lenox. Read below for a deeper look at the numbers:

• There are 8,000 households in New Lenox. Of those, 336 are listed as unmarried partner households.
• Out of the 336 unmarried partners, there are 15 male-male couples and 25 female-female partners.
• About half of the same-sex partners have children living in their home who are 18 or younger (22/40).
