5 Candidates Running For 3 Open Lincoln-Way Board Positions

There are three open 4-year board member positions, as well as one unexpired 2-year position.

NEW LENOX, IL — Five candidates are running for three open positions on the Lincoln-Way Community High School Board of Education, according to the Will County Clerk's final candidate list. There is also one person running for an unexpired 2-year board member term.

The board of education consists of seven board members who serve 4-year terms. For the April 6 election, there are three open 4-year terms, as well as one unexpired 2-year term.

Christopher Lucchetti is the only candidate listed as running for the unexpired 2-year term. Lucchetti was first appointed to the board in 2016, and was then elected in 2017.

The candidates running for the three 4-year positions are: Emily Biegel, Aaron Janik, Deadra Stokes, Joseph Kosteck and Tania Rempert. Janik, Kosteck and Stokes are all incumbent board members, and Kosteck currently serves as board president while Janik is vice president.

Stokes was appointed to the board in 2019 after the resignation of board member Peter Wilkes.

Rempert and Biegel are both newcomer candidates. According to Biegel's candidate Facebook page, she is a teacher at Thornton Fractional North High School and is a Frankfort resident. Rempert told Patch she has a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and works as a strategic planning and evaluation consultant for educational and nonprofit programs.

This final candidate list from the county does not include any write-in candidates who may choose to run.
