New Lenox Police K9 Presence Is Only A Drill, No Threat To Public: NLPD

New Lenox residents might notice increased police presence and K9 officers deployed in various places this week. It's a training exercise.

NEW LENOX, IL — Activity with K9 police officers in New Lenox Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon is only training, the police department said.

Beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, residents may notice a police K9 presence in various parts of New Lenox.

The activity, police said, is part of a scheduled training class designed to ensure the department's K9 officer, along with surrounding K9 agencies, is well prepared to respond to real life situations, the New Lenox Police Department said.

Training may involve multiple officers, vehicles, police canines, and simulated scenarios.

There is no threat to the public, and no action is required.
