LincolnWay Community Bank Starts Community Action Program

has been dedicated to giving back to the community since it opened its doors in 2005, but the bank’s employees wanted to take things a step further.

They began a community outreach program called We C.A.R.E. (Community Actions Reaching Everyone). With the support of bank management, the We C.A.R.E. program has reached out to charitable organizations in the area to offer their assistance.

Employees’ participation has included volunteering to assemble food baskets for the needy, organizing a food drive to benefit the New Lenox Food Pantry, providing meals for the hungry, and donating “Birthday Boxes” to children at Guardian Angel Home who may otherwise not receive a gift on their birthday.

In addition to charitable work the program encourages employees to commit acts of good will in the community; they recently presented a long term care resident at a local assisted living home with gifts, balloons and cake to celebrate his 100th birthday.

The We C.A.R.E. program is funded by employee donations and their participation in fundraising efforts. To raise money, employees pay $5 to wear jeans on Fridays, buy snacks and candy to benefit the program and make monetary donations.

The program encourages employees to participate in events as a group with their co-workers, which is both rewarding and great for bank morale.
