Mary K. Totten, M.B.A., has been appointed to the Silver Cross Board of Directors.
Totten specializes in governance, education and communication consulting. For more than 20 years she has been a speaker and consultant to hospitals, health systems and other health organizations on quality, medical staff credentialing, strategic planning, board orientation and evaluation and governance restructuring.

Totten was co-founder of Health Governance Digest, a national newsletter for healthcare boards. She was an owner and principal of the American Governance & Leadership Group, which was purchased by the American Hospital Association in 2004 and is now the AHA’s Center for Healthcare Governance.
She also has been a long-term consultant for a national revenue improvement solutions consulting firm for strategic marketing planning and implementation services.

Totten conducts board retreats and education programs and has authored six books and more than 100 articles on governance and leadership issues. She has served as a trustee and board officer on hospital, health system and school boards.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, Totten is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison with BA degrees in Journalism and English, and an MBA degree from Northwestern University.
Totten joins 14 members of the Silver Cross Board of Directors. They are Jack Carlstrom, Brian Chaps, Connie Curran, Thomas Donovan, Douglas Hutchison Jr. (First Vice Chairman), George F. Mahoney III, Al McCowan (Secretary), David Mikolajczak, D.O., Steve Morrissette (Treasurer), Paul Pawlak (President/CEO), Susan Prock, Salvador Rinella, M.D., James Roolf (Chairman of the Board) and Mark Stofan (Second Vice Chairman).
