Booze Stolen From Walmart: Cops

New Lenox police responded to multiple reports of burglaries to vehicles in one day.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Second Ave. at 1:38 p.m. on July 31 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant
advised that unknown subject(s) made entry into the vehicle without permission, taking numerous items.

An officer was dispatched to the 100 block Second Ave. at 6:22 p.m. on July 31 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown subject(s) made entry into the vehicle without permission, taking numerous items.

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Pine St. at 6:22 p.m. on July 31 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown subject(s) made entry into the vehicle without permission, taking numerous items.

Outstanding Arrest Warrant

Romana S. Logan-Wright, 24, Riverdale was charged on an outstanding warrant at 11:42 p.m. on July 31 at the police station. An officer was dispatched to the station in reference to a subject turning herself in on a warrant. The officer confirmed the subject, Logan-Wright, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Theft

An officer was dispatched to the police station in reference to a complaint of theft. The complainant advised that unknown person(s) took portable batteries from the changeable message signal devices at Laraway Road and Rachel Ridge Dr. before 5:02 p.m. on Aug. 1.

An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of Stapleton Road at 1:58 p.m. on Aug. 3 in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that unknown subject(s) entered on their property and stole copper fittings, pipe and wire.

Retail Theft

An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a complaint of a retail theft at 9:17 p.m. on Aug. 3. The complainant advised that the offender took alcohol from the store and exited without paying for the items.

DUI

Mitchell Y. Castro, 50, Lockport was charged with speeding, operating uninsured motor vehicle and DUI while stopped at Route 30 and Gougar Road at 2:27 a.m. on Aug. 6. An officer was on patrol and witnessed a traffic violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer learned that the driver, Castro, was under the influence of alcohol. Castro was arrested and transported to the police station.

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer was dispatched to Shagbark Road at 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 7 in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that unknown person(s) damaged their vehicle.
