Burglary Reported At Currency Exchange In New Lenox: Cops
Two warrant arrests were made in New Lenox, including one while police were responding to a call of a retail theft.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.
Theft
An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft at 1:40 a.m. on June 17. The complainant advised that their cell phone was stolen from a purse while they were shopping in the store. The officer was able to track the phone to an address in Joliet. The officer met with a subject there who advised that they found the phone in the store. The phone was returned to the owner.

Warrant Arrest
Christopher J. Mackin, 32, of the 400 block of Circlegate Road was stopped at Illinois Highway and Industry Road at 11:37 a.m. on June 17 and charged on a warrant. An officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer met with the driver, Mackin, and learned that Mackin had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest from Kendall County.

Melvin Carr, 60, Chicago was charged on a warrant while at Walmart at 2:51 p.m. on June 17. An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a retail theft. While investigating the incident the officer had contact with Melvin Carr. The officer learned the Carr had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest from Cook County. Carr was taken into custody. At the time of the report it did not appear that a retail theft had taken place.
Burglary
An officer was dispatched to the New Lenox Currency Exchange at 7:18 a.m. on June 22 in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone forced entry into the building and unsuccessfully attempted to steal the ATM machine. Nothing appeared stolen at the time of the report.
Criminal Damage to Vehicle
An officer was dispatched to the police station in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to vehicle in the 2000 block of Jackson Branch Drive at 2:03 p.m. on June 22. The complainant advised that their car was keyed while it was parked on the street in front of their house.
Battery
An officer was dispatched to the Valvoline Express Care in reference to a complaint of battery at 4:11 p.m. on June 22. The complainant advised that during an argument one employee battered another employee.
