Burrito Loco Victimized By Counterfeit Cash: Blotter

NEW LENOX, IL - The following incidents of crime have kept the New Lenox Police Department busy as of late. The following information was supplied to Patch by New Lenox Police.
November 13
An officer observed a vehicle with a registration violation at 1:17 a.m. in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, whose real name is Sergio Martinez-Garcia, 36, of Morris. The driver did not have any ID on his person and advised his name was Jose Martinez-Garcia. Jose did not have a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance and was transported to the NLPD. Jose’s vehicle was being towed when the officer discovered fraudulent money inside the vehicle.

At the NLPD the officer learned that additional fraudulent money was in Jose’s possession. An inquiry of Jose’s fingerprints reveled that his name was actually, Sergio Martinez-Garcia, and that he had an active warrant out of Kane County for failure to appear on cocaine charges. The secret service was contacted in reference to the fraudulent currency and began an investigation. Martinez-Garcia was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

The officer was running radar at 9:56 p.m. and observed a vehicle speeding in the 800 block of West Lincoln Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Denson Hogan-Berry, 31, of Joliet. The officer learned that Hogan-Berry had a revoked driver’s license. Hogan-Berry was transported to the NLPD. Hogan-Berry posted bond and was released.
November 15
An officer was dispatched to investigate a traffic accident at 9:07 a.m. at the 100 block of East Joliet Highway. During the investigation the officer learned that one of the drivers involved in the crash, Shelby Bluck, 22, of Tinley Park, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Bluck was transported to the NLPD. Bluck posted bond and was released.
November 15
At 2:33 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Burrito Loco in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway in reference to a Deceptive Practice Complaint. The complainant advised that a customer paid for food using a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill.
November 16
The officer was dispatched at 9:41 a.m. for a theft complaint in the 1700 block of Nelson Road. The complainant advised that they ordered a package and received notification that the package had been delivered to their residence. The complainant went to retrieve the package but the package was gone.
November 16
The officer was dispatched at 4:58 p.m. to the area of Spencer Road and Constitution Road in reference to a reckless driver. Upon arrival, the officer met with an off duty law enforcement officer who had stopped the offending vehicle, Kristopher Lee of Berwyn. The offending vehicle was being driven by Lee. After obtaining facts of the driver’s actions the officer met with Lee. The officer learned that Lee was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Lee was transported to the NLPD. Lee was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
November 16
At 9:10 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Target for a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that a purse was stolen from their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot and the complainant was shopping.
November 17
At 12:58 a.m., an officeron patrol observed a vehicle with an equipment violation driving erratically at Laraway and Spencer Roads. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Morgan Bauman, 22, of Berwyn. The officer learned that Bauman was driving while under the influence. Bauman was transported to the NLPD. Bauman posted bond and was released.
November 18
An officer was dispatched to Patterson Cooney Inc. for a burglary. The complainant advised that someone forced entry through a door to the business while the business was closed. Nothing appeared to be taken at the time of the report.
November 18
At 9:34 p.m, an officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding and driving erratically. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Darrell Prouty, 26, of Plainfield. The officer learned that Prouty had a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a traffic offense. Prouty was transported to the NLPD. Prouty posted bond and was released.
