Car Burglaries, DUI: New Lenox Police Reports

New Lenox Police reports through Sept. 16.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Sept. 9

  • Someone stole two chainsaws from Ace Hardware, 358 W. Lincoln Highway, and ran out of the store. The chainsaws were valued at $1,000.

  • Jason Talley-Smith, 26, of Chicago, was arrested at 9:55 p.m. at Lincoln Highway and Gougar Road and charged with speeding, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle.
  • Ta Hannah Woods, 27, of Hammond, Indiana, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway and charged with driving while license suspended.

Sept. 11

  • A laptop was stolen out of an unlocked car in the 900 block of Laurel Bay.
  • A welder, valued at over $10,000, was stolen from a construction site at Lincoln Highway and I-80.
  • A garage door opener was stolen from an unlocked car a driveway in the 2100 block of Finborough Circle.

  • Harvey Huckstep, 69, of Joliet, was arrested at 7:28 a.m. at Francis Road and Silver Cross Boulevard and charged with speeding, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving while license revoked.
  • David Finney, 36, of the 900 block of Chelsea Court, was arrested at 11:14 a.m. at Target, 2370 E. Lincoln Highway, and charged with retail theft.

Sept. 13

  • Someone broke a window at a car parked in the 21000 block of Center Avenue. Various car parts were then stolen out of the car.

Sept. 14

  • A woman stole numerous bottles of alcohol from Target, 2370 E. Lincoln Highway. Total loss was over $900.
  • A woman stole clothing and grocery items from Target, 2370 E. Lincoln Highway. Loss was over $130.
  • Wendell Barnes, 44, of Frankfort, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. at Jewel, 2021 E. Laraway Road, and charged with retail theft.
  • Daniel McCarrin, 66, of Joliet, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. at Lincoln Highway and I-80 and charged with DUI-alcohol.

Sept. 15

  • A laptop was stolen out of an unlocked car in the 900 block of Stafford Court. The garage door opener in the car was then used to open the garage, but nothing was missing.
  • A wallet, containing IDs and credit/debit cards, was stolen out of an unlocked car in the 800 block of Winter Park Drive. The credit cards were then fraudulently used at various locations.
  • A cellphone was stolen out of an unlocked car in the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway.
