Recent crime in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's a snapshot of recent criminal activity investigated during the past week by the New Lenox Police Department:

Oct. 23

Police were dispatched to AT&T, 700 block of East Lincoln Highway, in reference to a burglary in progress at 5:11 a.m. The alarm company advised that someone broke a window to force entry into the store. The offenders fled prior to officers’ arrival. Taken were two Apple watches and two display cellular phones.

Oct. 23

Police were dispatched to Crystal Springs Park in the 2300 block of Bluestone Bay Drive in reference to a criminal damage to property. Someone damaged three information signs on the park grounds.

Oct. 23

Police were dispatched to the White Horse Inn in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway reference to a theft. The complainant advised that a man stole a $300 cash voucher from a poker machine that they were playing.

Oct. 25

An officer was dispatched for a deceptive practice complaint. The complainant advised that they were selling an item online. A buyer agreed to purchase the item and sent a check for $2,000 more than the asking price. When confronted, the buyer indicated it was a mistake and asked the complainant to send the extra money back to him in a cashier’s check. The complainant learned this was a scam before any financial loss occurred.

Oct. 25

The officer was dispatched to Haines Avenue for an identity theft case. The complainant advised that someone obtained their Verizon Account information and fraudulently ordered over $10,000 worth of IPhones. The identity theft was discovered before any financial or property loss could occur.

The officer was dispatched to Illinois Highway in reference to a criminal damage to vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that someone scratched their car and threw eggs at it while it was parked on their driveway in the 300 block of Illinois Highway.

Oct. 26

An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a retail theft. The complainant advised that three people stole several bottles of alcohol, valued at approximately $400 from the store.

Oct. 26

An officer was dispatched to Jewel for a fraud complaint. The complainant advised that someone was attempting to purchase items in the store with a counterfeit $100 bill. The offender fled the store without the items while the complainant was calling the police.

Oct. 27

An officer was dispatched to Cattleman Drive for a credit card fraud case. The complainant advised they lost their wallet. The complainant then discovered fraudulent purchases were made using of their credit cards.

Oct. 27

Police were dispatched to Jewel for a criminal damage to vehicle. The complainant advised that someone broke a window of their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot over several days.

Oct. 28

At 3:17 a.m. New Lenox Police were dispatched to Amber Road in reference to a battery in progress. The male victim advised that he was battered by the offender, Rick Sisco, 21, of the 200 block of East Woodlawn, New Lenox. While officers were investigating, Sisco returned to the scene and was arrested on charges of battery. The victim suffered minor injuries. Sisco posted bond and was released.

Oct. 28

At 4:13 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Speedway Gas Station in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway for a burglar alarm. The officers arrived and noticed a broken window. Further investigation revealed that someone threw a brick threw the window and entered the store. The burglar fled the scene prior to police arrival. According to an employee, nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.

Oct. 29

An officer was dispatched to Lincolnway Special Recreation Association in the 1900 block of Heather Glen Drive for a stolen vehicle. The complainant advised that a Kubota Utility Vehicle was stolen from the business. The complainant indicated that the vehicle had already been recovered by the Olympia Fields Police Department.

Oct. 29

An officer was dispatched to Silver Cross Hospital in reference to a welfare check. While at the hospital, the officer had contact with Elefteria Klages, 21, of Tinley Park, and learned that she had an outstanding DuPage County warrant out for her arrest for Failure to Appear. Klages was taken into custody and transported to the NLPD. Klages was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
