Celtics finish 5-4 in ESCC

For the first time since Ben Thompson took the head coaching position for the varsity girls tennis team at Providence Cathollic five years ago, his team finished over .500 in the talent-rich East Suburban Catholic Conference. They soundly beat St. Viator 4-1 on Monday to finalize their record in the ESCC.  This is a major accomplishment for a southwest suburban high school team, taking on some of the best teams in the State, including Benet, Carmel and Fenwick.

Wins came from Hannah Davis (1st singles), Maggie and Kelly Ruane (1st doubles), Mary Beth Galick and Lizzie Eggen (2nd doubles) and Elise Morris and Grace Burchett (3rd doubles).  The win also improved the team's overall record to 17-6.

They will host Plainfield North on Tuesday beginning at 4:15 p.m.
