Chamber CEO Tapped to Fill Spot on Village Board
Emily Johnson will serve as village trustee to replace Ray Tuminello.

New Lenox Chamber CEO Emily Johnson will wear another hat now.
Johnson was appointed Monday to fill the village board seat vacated by Ray Tuminello. Tuminello resigned to slide into the Will County Board seat left empty by Margo McDermed, who was elected state representative.
Mayor Tim Baldermann praised Johnson for her skill with small businesses, but also touted her newness to the area as a reason why she was chosen.

“The historical aspect of our community is important and it is well-represented,” Baldermann said. “I wanted some representation aspect there that we don’t currently have.”
Johnson obtained a bachelor’s of science degree in public relations from Illinois State University with a minor in sociology. She has served as CEO of the chamber since February.
