Circle K Cigarette And Booze Thief Caught, New Lenox Police Say

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your most recent look at criminal activity around the village of New Lenox during the past week. The following information was supplied by New Lenox Police.

AUG. 20

The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked at LA Fitness and stole their debit card. The card was then used to make fraudulent purchases.

AUG. 21

  • The officer was dispatched to the area of Cedar Road & Ford in reference to a vehicle driving recklessly. The officer located the vehicle at Shagbark and Nelson Roads and observed the driver commit several traffic violations. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Nicholas Boyne, 31, of the 1200 block of Vine Street, New Lenox. The officer learned that Boyne was driving under the influence of alcohol. Boyne was transported to the NLPD. DISPOSITION/BOND: Boyne posted bond and was released.
  • The officer was dispatched to the 18000 block of South Gougar Road in reference to a residential burglary complaint. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their residence while they were away on vacation and stole cash and other items.

The officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle with an equipment violation near Prairie Road and Lincoln Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Dva Sullivan, 26, of the 1100 block of Gardner Street, Joliet. The officer learned that Sullivan had a suspended driver’s license. Sullivan posted bond and was released.

AUG. 24

  • The officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle driving erratically at Route 30 and Veterans Parkway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Eric K. Hannemann, 22, of the 2800 block of Centurion Lane, New Lenox. The officer learned that Hannemann was driving under the influence of alcohol. Hanemann posted bond and was released.
  • The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that the offender, Sandra Romo, 32, of Manhattan, was making a purchase in the self-checkout lane. Romo failed to scan and pay for several food and clothing items totaling approximately $63. Romo posted bond and was released.
  • Also that same day, another officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that a woman placed approximately $130 worth of clothing items and alcohol in her purse and exited the store without paying for the items. The complainant approached the offender in the vestibule at which time the offender dropped her purse and fled the scene.

AUG. 25

  • The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a retail theft complaint. The complainant advised that the offender, Linda Canner, 48, of Manhattan, was making a purchase in the self-checkout lane. Canner failed to scan and pay for several food items totaling approximately $29. Canner posted bond and was released.
  • An officer was dispatched to Circle K Gas Station at 471 Nelson Road in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that the offender, Michael R. Tucker, 59, of the 800 block of Fuller Street, Joliet, stole cigarettes, alcohol and gum from the store totaling $180. Tucker fled in a vehicle. The officer located the vehicle and Tucker and recovered the mentioned property. Tucker was transported to the NLPD where he was charged with Felony Retail Theft. Tucker was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

AUG. 26

An officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding at William Street and Lincoln Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Crystal Bass, 25, of the 1700 block of Pinewood Lane, Joliet. The officer learned that Bass had a suspended driver’s license. Bass posted bond and was released.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle speeding at Lincoln Highway and Tonell Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Aaron Watson, 49, of the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway, New Lenox. The officer learned that Watson had a suspended driver’s license. Watson posted bond and was released.
