Daytime Burglars Target New Lenox Subdivision

Anyone with suspect information is urged to call the New Lenox Police Department.

NEW LENOX, IL - The village of New Lenox issued a social media bulletin on Friday to alert its residents to criminal activity that occurred earlier in the day. Around 3 p.m., police fielded a report of a burglary in the Grand Prairie subdivision. One suspect is a white man in his forties who wore a dark hat and dark coat. According to police, this man approached his unsuspecting victim as she entered her garage. As he struck up a conversation with her, a second suspect apparently entered the woman's home and committed a burglary inside a bedroom. The woman told New Lenox police she did not see the second suspect enter her residence.

The burglars fled in a work truck or van, but the victim was not sure of its color, according to police. The Grand Prairie subdivision is near West Haven Avenue.

"Please report any suspicious activity to the Police Department as soon as possible at 815-485-2500," New Lenox Police urged residents.
