Drive-By Parade Brings Cheer To The Cottages Of New Lenox
Residents were able to watch from their windows and some were outside in the common area watching the parade.
NEW LENOX, IL — Since families haven't been able to visit their loved ones in nursing homes or long-term care facilities, The Cottages of New Lenox held a 34-car drive-by parade to bring some cheer and show their love and support to the residents and caregivers at the facility.
“While there have been many window visits and Facetime visits, we thought this was a great time to do something a little special for our residents and their families” Executive Director Alda Tole said.
The cars convened in a nearby parking lot and were led by two New Lenox squad cars with flashing lights. The facility said residents were able to watch from their windows and some were outside in the common area watching the parade.

The parade was organized by resident family member Gabe Leon to show not only the
residents but also the caregivers how much the families appreciate all of their efforts to keep
loved ones safe and happy, the facility said.
“It’s a small way to let them all know how much families miss visiting, but also a thank you to the staff for the wonderful job they have done in their compassionate caring for the residents. We truly are one big family facing this together,” Leon said in a release.
