Drunk Driver Falls Asleep At Tracks: Police

After having too much to drink, this driver dozed off at the New Lenox train tracks, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL - New Lenox Police say they busted an intoxicated 27-year-old New Lenox motorist who was sound asleep behind the wheel of his car at the railroad tracks. The drunken driving arrest of James Westferro took place at 1:42 a.m. last Saturday, Nov. 10, according to police.

According to police reports, New Lenox police officers were called to investigate malfunctioning railroad track gates.

"Upon arrival, the officer observed a vehicle stopped at the tracks. The officer noticed that when the gates went up, the vehicle did not move. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed the driver, Westferro, slumped over the wheel. After several attempts to wake Westferro, he woke up," police reports state. "Upon further investigation the officer learned that Westferro was driving under the influence of alcohol. Westferro was transported to the NLPD. Westferro posted bond and was released."

Westferro, who lives in the 2000 block of Stapleton Road, was able to post bond and get released from detention.
