DUI, Thefts And Burglaries: New Lenox Crime Blotter

This unlicensed driver ended up in jail on charges of aggravated drunken driving, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's a look at some of the recent criminal activity that the New Lenox Police Department has investigated in recent days.

Oct. 10

Police were dispatched to Target in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone stole a Target employee’s hand held scanner/computer valued at $1,000.

Oct. 11

An officer was on patrol and conducted a registration check on a parked vehicle in the 2200 block of Cardinal Lane. The officer learned that the vehicle was reported stolen from Chicago. Chicago PD was notified and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Oct. 12

An officer on patrol at 5:26 a.m. located a vehicle in a ditch in the area of Cedar and Delaney Roads. The officer, after several attempts was able to awaken the driver, Joseph Perritano, 23, of Mokena. While conducting an investigation of the one car crash, the officer learned that Perritano was driving under the influence of alcohol. The officer further learned that Perritano had an outstanding Will County Warrant out for his arrest for Failure to Appear. Perritano was transported to the Silver Cross for treatment of minor injuries. Upon release, Perritano was transported to the NLPD. Perritano was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention facility.

Oct. 15

Police were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant advised that a Samsung tablet was taken from their purse while they were in the store.

Oct. 17

The officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of Hickory Creek Drive in reference to a residential burglary complaint. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their residence while they were out shopping and removed cash and other property.

The officer was dispatched to LA Fitness in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone stole their wallet from their gym bag while they played basketball.

Oct. 20

The officer was on patrol and observed Elizabeth Tydd, 39, of Frankfort, staggering while walking toward a parked car at the 7-Eleven. The officer then observed Tydd attempting to get into the driver’s side door of an already occupied vehicle. The officer further observed Tydd enter another unoccupied vehicle and start the car. Before Tydd could drive away, the officer approached the vehicle to investigate. The officer learned that Tyyd was under the influence of alcohol. Tydd was transported to the NLPD. Tydd posted bond and was released.

Oct. 21

Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Edmonds Avenue in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked overnight on their driveway. Nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.

Oct. 21

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Strada Del Fazio. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked overnight on their driveway. Credit cards and a radar detector were stolen from the vehicle.

Oct. 21

An officer was investigating a three car crash at Route 6 and Gougar Road and made contact with the drivers involved. The officer learned that one of the drivers, Eduardo Munoz-Desiderio, 28, of Chicago Heights, was under the influence of alcohol and also had a revoked driver’s license. Munoz was transported to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Upon release, Munoz was transported to the NLPD. Munoz was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on charges of aggravated DUI/driving while license revoked.

Oct. 22

Police were dispatched to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the Target parking lot. A purse containing credit cards and other items was stolen from the vehicle. The credit cards were later used elsewhere to make fraudulent purchases.
