Fire Causes Heavy Damage to New Lenox Home

The fire happened early Thursday morning and originated in the basement of the home.

No one was injured during a Thursday morning blaze at a home in the 200 block of West Haven.

At 7:14 a.m. this morning the New Lenox Fire Protection District received a call for a residential structure fire in the 200 block of West Haven.

When the first company arrived on the scene, the residential home had heavy smoke showing. Crews found a fire in the basement of the home. The fire was out by 7:40 a.m.

“The firefighters did a great job putting the fire out quickly and preventing further damage,” said Battalion Chief Josh Swanson.

The residents of the home were able to get out safely, no injuries occurred.

There is heavy damage to the home, total cost of damage is not yet available. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
