Fire Extinguisher Activated Unlawfully At Silver Cross: Cops

A Walmart shopper told New Lenox police that their cell phone was stolen after leaving it unattended for a short time.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Wood St. at 1:19 p.m. on July 18 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown subject(s) made entry into the vehicle without permission.

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Sonoma Road at 8:17 a.m. on July 19 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown subject(s) made entry into the vehicle and removed items without permission.

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer was dispatched to Walmart at 7:17 p.m. on July 18 in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that unknown person(s) damaged their car.

Theft

An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that their cellular phone was set down for a short period of time while shopping and upon retrieval it had been taken without their permission.

DUI

Dennis A. Peterson, 72, of the 1900 block of Heather Way Lane was charged with speeding, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and DUI while stopped at Nelson Road and Joliet Highway at 1:43 a.m. on July 19. An officer was on patrol and observed a traffic violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer learned that the driver, Peterson, was under the influence of alcohol. Peterson was arrested and transported to the police station.

Raymond M. Perez, 27, Lockport was stopped at Cedar Road and Lenox Street at 2:18 a.m. on July 23 and charged with speeding, disobeying traffic control device, operation uninsured motor vehicle and DUI. An officer was on patrol and observed a traffic violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer learned that the driver, Perez, was under the influence of alcohol. Perez was arrested and transported to the police station.

Disorderly Conduct

Sarah E. Amede, 24, Country Club Hills was charged with disorderly conduct at 4:38 p.m. on July 21 at Silver Cross Hospital. An officer was dispatched to Silver Cross Hospital in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint. Upon
arrival, the complainant advised that Amede had activated a fire extinguisher within the hospital.

Warrant Arrest

Kevin W. McNellis, 35, of the 900 block of Foxwood Court was charged on an outstanding warrant at 9:11 p.m. on July 21 at his residence. During an investigation, an officer learned that McNellis had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
