Five Providence Seniors Commit to College Sports

Damon Bartos, Jack Brody, Morgan Greenwood, Alyssa Jurges and Troy Howat each signed commitment letters.

Five Providence Catholic High School students signed commitments to play their sports at college level.

They include Damon Bartos, Jack Brody, Morgan Greenwood, Alyssa Jurges and Troy Howat.

“We are extremely proud of these young men and women for their leadership and hard work. We wish them the very best in college and in the future,” said Harper.

  • Damon Bartos, son of Mike and Michelle Bartos of Mokena, committed to continue his baseball career at Marian University (Fond du Lac, WI). Bartos received an athletic scholarship and plans to major in Environmental Science. He is a graduate of Mokena Junior High School and a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church.
  • Jonathan (Jack) Brody, son of John and Sue Brody of Lockport, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Indianapolis where he will continue his basketball career. Brody received an athletic scholarship and plans to major in Sports Marketing. He is a graduate of Homer Junior High and a parishioner at St. Dennis. Brody has been a member of the Celtic basketball team for the past four years and is senior Team Captain. He was named CCL All-Conference and All-Area.
  • Morgan Greenwood, daughter of Kelvin and Erin Greenwood of Shorewood, signed her National Letter of Intent to attend DePaul University where she will continue her softball career. Greenwood received an athletic scholarship and plans to major in Chemistry (Pre-Medicine). She is a graduate of Holy Family School and is a parishioner at Second Baptist Church. The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and has been a member of the Celtic softball team for her entire high school career. Greenwood is senior co-captain, named All-Conference for past three years, All-Area Honorable Mention in 2014 and currently holds the school’s homerun record (16).
  • Alyssa Jurges, daughter of Paul and Lynne Jurges of New Lenox, signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Lewis University where she will continue her basketball career. Jurges received both and an academic and athletic scholarship and plans to major in Communications. She is a graduate of Liberty Junior High and is a parishioner at St. Jude Church in New Lenox. The honor roll student is a member of Habitat for Humanity and has been a member of the Celtic basketball team for the past four years. Jurges is a two year Team Captain and was named All-State, All-Area, and All-Conference last season.
  • Troy Howat, son of Rick and Janet Howat of Plainfield, committed to continue his basketball career at Carroll University (Waukesha, WI) where he plans to major in Physical Therapy. He is a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate School and a parishioner at St. Mary Immaculate Church. The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society, Mock Trial Team and has been a member of the Celtic basketball team for the past four years.
