Fund Created to Help Repair Vandalized New Lenox Veterans Memorial
Vandals who damaged a memorial in New Lenox are still at large, but the community isn't letting that stop them from looking ahead.

A fund has been established to assist in repairs to a shattered veterans memorial in New Lenox.
Vandals last week struck the memorial, toppling and cracking four monuments honoring the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marines. Only the monument honoring the U.S. Army remains standing.
“Someone just spoke volumes about their character,” one resident wrote of the crime. ”This is truly disgusting what happened and I hope they find who did it and prosecute accordingly.”

The cracked monuments and welcoming plaque have been removed. South suburban residents were agape at the crime.
“Disgraceful! No respect for the men and women who serve and protect our country,” wrote one reader in Tinley Park.

“Somebody out there knows who did this horrific act,” wrote Kevin Ziegler, Frankfort resident. “Anyone that knows any information about this and doesn’t report it to the authorities is just as guilty as the disgusting punks that did this. I am not only speaking as former resident of New Lenox, I am speaking as a veteran who served his country with pride. This turns my stomach!”
