16So it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God who shows mercy. 17For the scripture says to Pharaoh, ‘I have raised you up for the very purpose of showing my power in you, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.’ ~ Romans 9:16-17
Sometimes we see situations that we try to handle on our own. Maybe we feel that we can handle it ourselves instead of bothering God with the problem, because we feel He has bigger, more important things to attend to. After a time of trying to fix the problem on our own, we realize that, "no, God will have to handle this after all."
God doesn't expect us to handle things on our own. He is always with us, ready to take our hand and guide us through whatever we are dealing with. He doesn't want us to face things on our own. He is our Father and wants the very best for us, but like allowing a toddler to just experience some newfound freedom to explore on our own, he allows us to come to the realization that we need God's help without Him demanding to step in and help us. It is a learning experience for us throughout our lives. We see God's power in our lives when we let go and allow Him to lead and work His power to solve our difficulties for us.
What isn't going quite right in your life right now? Can you hand it over to God and watch Him work a miracle before your eyes? He's waiting for you to ask.
Prayer
Father in heaven,Thank you for allowing us the freedom to explore what we can and cannot do on our own. Help us to always remember not to allow ourselves to get frustrated in not being able to solve all of our own problems on our own, but rather to lean on You for our ultimate help in time of need. Amen.
