Heavy Damage, No Injuries Reported after New Lenox House Fire

It took crews 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

A resident is safe and a home heavily damaged after a fire Tuesday in New Lenox.

New Lenox firefighters around 1:30 p.m. responded to a call of a residential structure fire in the 2800 block of Cole Lane. Crews on the scene found heavy smoke showing from the attic. The fire was out within 40 minutes.

The NLFPD received assistance during the structure fire from other fire districts including: Lockport, Manhattan, Mokena, Homer, NW Homer, East Joliet, Frankfort, and Palos. The New Lenox Police Department and ESDA also assisted on the scene.

There is heavy damage to the home, total cost of damage is not yet available. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
