I’m living in this pandemic too!

You don’t see me much, my family and I lay low. We stay home, get deliveries, no huge vacation excursions or large music festivals on our agenda. We started homeschooling last year and taking it on again this year too. We go to the park or zoo but stay out of the crowds. We visit small shops but always wear our masks and hand sanitizer is near by. I’m quiet, I read what others are doing but I don’t speak against your actions, nor do I spam social media with messages proclaiming my view is the best.

I’m here, waiting, doing the best I can in this season to keep our family safe.

I so desperately want it to be a memory and not my reality, but it cannot, will not disappear, and I can’t do anymore to make it so. I was good, got my shot and so did my husband, our kids are too young.

I’m burnt out, frustrated and sometimes paralyzed with disbelief on the simple reality that Americans have the power to make this better and won’t. No one likes the current situation of masks, fighting, vaccines, unknown. One thing I think everyone can agree on is it’s gone on too long, and we all want it to just go away. It’s so sad we can’t agree how.

The best route to resolve is to compromise. If you aren’t ready to vaccinate wear a mask, go at your own pace. Please don’t tout your invincibility as an end to this very real beast. You may be super, but no one is a superhero, no one is immune. Your decisions affect me and my family, and I’m living in this pandemic too.
