The jazz trumpet quartet, “Four Other Brothers”, will be the featured 12:30PM performance this Saturday at the 7th Annual LWC Jazz Festival.
Four Other Brothers is a unique group of four skilled jazz trumpet players playing the music of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Duke Ellington, and much more. The members are all professors at Illinois universities who perform with a three-piece rhythm section (bass, piano, and drums). Their show is an exciting mix of entertaining standards, as well as historically interesting "period" pieces which feature the musical styles of significant jazz icons of the past.
The quartet was recently featured at Chicago’s world-famous Jazz Showcase, and will be a featured group at the 2014 Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria later this month.
The group will be the featured guests at the festival in which twenty-one groups will perform throughout the day. In addition to all four Lincoln-Way High School jazz ensembles, the festival will also feature performances from Providence Catholic, Sandburg, Crown Point, Liberty Junior High and Summit Hill Junior High, among others.
All-day admission to the festival is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and seniors.
