Joliet Montessori School Successfully Re-certified by AMI

JMS remains the only dual-certified Montessori school in Will County

Joliet Montessori School (JMS) has earned a prestigious re-certification from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for 2019 through 2022, which will come into effect when their current AMI certification expires at the end of the current school year.

AMI is a global association promoting specific and exacting Montessori education methods and learning materials. Because of AMI’s strict standards relating to teacher-to-student ratios, faculty training and uninterrupted work periods for children, relatively few Montessori schools in the United States have earned this certification.

About the re-certification, Head of School Heidi Geiger said, “In order to hold AMI certification, a school must go through an on-site evaluation process every three years. While here, AMI consultants confirm that the school is making use of proven Montessori learning materials, classroom processes, administration style and other factors. It’s a high standard, and I’m delighted that JMS has earned this honor yet again.”

JMS also holds certification from the American Montessori Society (AMS), making it the only dual-certified Montessori school in Will County, as well as the only Montessori School offering a complete program for children from 18 months to ninth grade.
