Joliet Weirdo Bothers New Lenox Woman On Old Plank Trail

Saturday's incident prompted a police citation from Will County Forest Preserve Police.

A 32-year-old Joliet man was given a citation on Saturday in connection with scary behavior on the Old Plank Road Trail near Interstate 80. Some people who contacted Patch about the incident believed that a young woman was assaulted on the trail, but this was not the case, according to the Forest Preserve Police of Will County. Public Information Officer Cindy Cain later told Patch that the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. and involved a 25-year-old woman from New Lenox. The young woman grew frightened when a stranger on the trail began accosting her. The man apparently raised his fist to the New Lenox woman for no rhyme or reason as the two passed one another along the Old Plank Road Trail, officials determined.

Police around Will County were notified of the incident and several squad cars arrived and went looking for the man, not knowing who he was or what his intentions were. A 32-year-old Joliet man who matched the suspect's description was eventually located by police. He was given a citation for disorderly conduct, which carries a $225 fine. The man was not taken into custody.

Saturday's incident occurs just a day after Forest Preserve officials issued a press release related to the recent arrest of University of Illinois student, William Sitton of Naperville. He was recently charged with felony aggravated battery in connection with an attack on a young woman along the Old Plank Road Trail in New Lenox Township that happened back in late May.
