‘And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of God’s creation:
15 ‘I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot. 16So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17For you say, “I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing.” You do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich; and white robes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. 19I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent. ~ Revelation 3:14-19
As we come closer to the end of times, Revelation reminds us that we must not be "lukewarm" in our faith. In fact, according to Retha McPherson, who is co-author of a book "Messages from God," we are to light our faith on fire! I have ordered this book and am looking forward to reading more of what she and her son Aldo, have been inspired by God to write.

We often look at our lives and think that we are doing just fine as we are, including in our faith life. But are we really? How often do we speak of God to others? Or are we afraid of offending someone by talking about our faith? How often do we draw close to God and connect with Him in a relational conversation through prayer and meditation?
Revelation speaks to this very problem of being "hot" or "cold" in our faith by showing us that we need to get the very things we need for our faith life from God, not through our own devices. God reprimands us because He loves us and wants us to have a strong love for Him as well - none of this "lukewarm" business when it comes to a relationship with Him. We must repent of our lackluster faith in Him and work toward a deeper, more "in love" connection with our Heavenly Father, so that our relationship is like an exciting, magnetic need to be with God to which we just want to draw nearer and nearer to Him. Let's "light our faith fire," get excited about drawing closer to God and really work toward the kind of relationship God wants to have with each and every one of us.

Prayer
Dear Father in Heaven,
Help us all to "light our faith in You on fire," so that we feel drawn to you as a magnet - wanting to be closer and closer to you as our love for You grows beyond all measure, trying to match the love You have for us. Help us to not be afraid to share our faith in You with others and not to be ashamed of the love relationship we have with You. May we feel emboldened by our faith in You to further Your message here on earth, so that others might come to love You above all things as well. Amen.
