The state will enter phase 1B of the vaccination plan on Monday, which includes those who work in education.

NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way area school districts have submitted a vaccination plan to the Will County Health Department, as the state prepares to move into phase 1B on Jan. 25.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, phase 1B includes 3.2 million eligible Illinoisans including adults age 65 and older; first responders; and those who work in education, food and agriculture, manufacturing, corrections workers and inmates, USPS workers, public transit workers, grocery store workers, and staff at shelters and day cares.

According to the Jan. 20 board meeting recap for Frankfort District 157-C, Superintendent Maura Zinni said that the plan has been accepted by the county and is now waiting for the state to receive vaccines. District nurses will be administering the vaccine, hopefully in the next few weeks, the recap states.

"We hope the supply becomes much more substantial and consistent as the new leadership in Washington implements their changes. With all of the districts that have submitted plans, and all the volunteers, especially retired nurses, that have stepped forward, we cannot wait to put more people and more places to work," Brandy said in an email to Patch.

According to IDPH data updated on Friday, 7,775 people in Will County are fully vaccinated, which is equivalent to 1.12 percent of the population.
