NEW LENOX, IL — Nine Lincoln-Way seniors have successfully interviewed and gained acceptance into this year’s School To Apprentice program. Four Lincoln-Way East students and five Lincoln-Way Central students met and interviewed with four union representatives at the Iron Workers Local 444 training facility in Joliet, the district said.

Students are competing for paid summer internships with a participating union, including Electricians, Pipefitters, Carpenters, Boilermakers, and Operators. The district said the next step for these students is for them to attend an OSHA 10 Safety Certification Course, CPR Certification, Red Cross Certification, and an awards banquet in late April.

To participate in the School to Apprentice program, students must be a senior, enrolled in a Career and Technical Course, have excellent grades and attendance, and be highly recommended by their teacher as a diligent student learner, the district said.
