Loaded Gun, Pot Found on New Lenox Home Burglary Suspects: Police
Police said they found a loaded gun, ski-mask and cannabis on two teenagers suspected of breaking into a home on Wintree Lane.

NEW LENOX, IL - An 18-year-old New Lenox man accused of breaking into a home in the 100 block of Wintree Lane last week was captured with his alleged accomplice shortly after, police said.
Police said they found a backpack filled with a loaded pistol, ski-mask and more than 30 grams of cannabis when stopping an SUV driven by Cortez J. Michalski, of the 200 block of York Place at 1:45 a.m. He and a 17-year-old boy from Joliet were arrested under suspicion of the residential burglary on Wintree.
A homeowner called police about someone looking through the window of their residence and an SUV running in the street a few houses down. The victim said the person, who they later identified as Michalski, made entry to an attached garage and removed property.

Police said they found the property while searching the SUV. They made the stop in the area of the crime after noticing Michalski matched the description of the offender provided by the homeowner.
Michalski was charged with residential burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment. The 17-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.
