Local Elections: Who's Filed So Far

Applicants have until 5 p.m. Monday to declare their candidacy.

UPDATE: The filing period is now closed for candidates, and we will continue to update this space as we hear from election officials with names of candidates who have filed. Once we have the names of all candidates, we will post a new article and link from here.

New Lenox School District 122: William Strons, Maureen Broderick, Philip Adair, Nick Di Sandro, Kevin Barry and Susan Gillooley filed. Broderick and Gillooley are incumbents, and board President Kathy Markus did not file for re-election.

Candidates for the Village Board, local school boards and other governing bodies in New Lenox began filing petitions this week for the April 5 election.

Nominating papers will be accepted until 5 p.m. Monday and must be turned in to each board's designated election official. Objections to petitions may be filed from Tuesday, Dec. 21, to Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Most election officials noted that some people who picked up election packets will not necessarily file their candidacy. The election packets include a statement of candidacy and petitions with signatures.

Here's a rundown of each local board, its open positions and whether anyone has filed yet:

Village Board

Open seats: Mayor and three village trustee seats (David Butterfield, Nancy Dye and Keith Madsen)

Who's filed so far: All three incumbent trustees — Butterfield, Dye and Madsen — have filed for re-election. Three other election packets were given out: two for mayor (including Mayor Tim Baldermann) and one for trustee.

Where to file: At , with election official Laura Ruhl.

School District 122

Open Seats: Three board members (Maureen Broderick, Sue Gillooley and Kathy Markus)

Who's filed so far: Two candidates have filed, including one incumbent (Broderick) and one challenger (William Strons), but more are expected to file before the deadline.

Where to file: The , with  election official LuAnn Dimonte.

Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210

Open seats: There are four open seats (James Gast, Christine Glatz, Kevin Molloy and Stephen White)

Who's filed so far: All four incumbents have filed, along with five challengers — Todd Covault, Tom Huisenga, Ronald Lullo, Christopher McFadden and Mark Zilinskas.

Where to file: , with election official Susan Fennell.

Fire Protection District Board

Open seats: There are three seats up for grabs this election (Tom DiFiori, Glen Krohn and Tom Sauter.

Who's filed so far: Krohn and DiFiori have filed, and Sauter is expected to. Three election packets were picked up, each by the three incumbents. Last year's race was also uncontested.

Where to file: The New Lenox , with election official Nancy McClain.

Public Library District Board

Open seats: Board President Linda Evans' seat is open as well as member Edward Tatro.

Who's filed so far: Just Evans so far, though Tatro got a packet. Outgoing library director JoAnn Potenziani said the library board races are often uncontested.

Where to file: The , with election official Donna Rinker

Community Park District Board

Open Seats: Three (Dale Larson, Brian Fischer and Gary Kraemer)

Who's filed so far: Just Larson, but the other two incumbents picked up the only other election packets taken.

Where to file: The offices at 1 Manor Drive, with election official Jacqueline Tuma
