LW 210 Hires Inspector General

James Sullivan will lead Sikich LLP as the inspector general for the Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210.

NEW LENOX, IL -- The Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 has named its inspector general. James M. Sullivan will lead Sikich LLP as the district's Independent Inspector General after the board of education unanimously approved the hire during a meeting last week, according to a news release from the district.

The hiring of an inspector general is the first of its kind for a school district in the area outside of Chicago Public Schools, the release stated. It will provide an independent mechanism by which employees of the district, students or parents can report allegationsof fraud, theft, deception or conspiracy.

The concept was brought to LW 210 by Superintendent Scott Tingley last fall.

Sullivan is a licensed attorney, certified inspector general and certified fraud examiner. Before joining Sikich in 2014, he served for 12 years as Inspector General for the Chicago Board of Education, where he supervised and conducted thousands of investigations of employee and vendor misconduct.

“Mr. Sullivan’s knowledge and experience aligns perfectly with our qualifications request,” said Board of Education President Joseph Kirkeeng. “Mr. Sullivan will report on and make recommendations regarding investigations to the Board of Education. He will work independently of the district, offering another safeguard to ensure public funds are being used properly.”
