
The Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Board of Education approved the hiring of Steven Langert to serve as the district’s Business Manager on a 100-day contract.
The district will pay $60,000 for his services, which will include preparing quarterly cash flow reports, reviewing budget line items and providing financial recommendations and oversight.
“Steve is a retired assistant superintendent who is highly respected for his work at helping other school districts improve their financial situations,” Superintendent Dr. R. Scott Tingley said. “We are looking forward to having an independent set of eyes on our numbers which will help us work toward financial stability.”

Langert’s contract is effective September 14, 2015 through June 30, 2016. Langert comes to Lincoln-Way with extensive school finance experience including 12 ½ years as the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services/CSBO at Consolidated High School District 230 and 13 years as the Director of Business Services/CSBO at Plainfield Consolidated District 202.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance and Management Information Systems from Lewis University.

The board also decided to hold off on approving its new budget, to allow time for the board to address residents’ concerns and questions stemming from the public hearing held Wednesday, Sept. 9. The budget will be back on the agenda at the Sept. 24 meeting.
