LW Central Offers Adult Woodworking Class
The class is open to anyone who is interested in exploring the basics of woodshop safety, hand tools and more.
NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 is offering an adult woodworking class at Lincoln-Way Central, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway. The district said adults interested in creating heirlooms, doing repairs or interested in the hobby can start here.
The class is open to anyone who is interested in exploring the basics of woodshop safety, hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, lumber selection, fastening methods, joinery, machining, sanding, finishing and more. Tools and materials will be provided. Several projects will be made, including an Adirondack Chair.
The district said participants must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. They will need to bring their own safety glasses, tape measure and pencils each week. No prior woodworking experience is necessary.

The course is taught by Lincoln-Way instructor Nick Schroder. The school said Schroder brings 15 years of woodworking experience with him and grew up in his dad’s furniture shop. Prior to
teaching, Schroder was a cabinetmaker for several years and ran his own woodworking business before moving to New Lenox.
The class will be held on the following Wednesdays: April 24, May 1, 8 and 15 and will run from 6 – 9 p.m. It is $125 for the course and includes a $25 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.
