Man Charged After Sexually Harassing Employee: New Lenox Police

The woman told police she was being physically and emotionally harassed by her supervisor.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Calumet City man has been charged with criminal sexual assault after sexually harassing an employee, New Lenox Police said. Uvaldo Valdez, 38, was charged Aug. 29 with criminal sexual assault, battery, criminal sexual abuse and unlawful restraint.

Police said a female employee reported in July that she was being sexually harassed by her supervisor, Valdez. The employee said she was being physically and emotionally harassed by Valdez, and said he had made several unwanted advances toward her, including cornering her and not allowing her to return to her work.

Police said the harassment ultimately led to unwanted physical touching by Valdez. The employee obtained an order of protection against Valdez and presented the order to their employer. Valdez was then terminated.

After reviewing video and conducting interviews, police took Valdez into custody on Thursday. Valdez was taken to Will County Adult Detention Facility and his bail has been set at $30,000.
