Manhattan Man Found in Field Suffered Head Injury in Car Crash, Cold Exposure: Coroner
Terence Mulcahy's car went into a ditch about a quarter mile from where his body was found.

A Manhattan man found dead Sunday in a frozen cornfield had suffered from cold exposure and a head injury, an autopsy revealed.
Terence Mulcahy, 55, apparently ran his car into a ditch about a quarter mile from where he was found Sunday evening near the intersection of Arsenal and Martin Long roads.
The field is between Manhattan and Wilmington.

Mulcahy’s daughter last spoke with him on the telephone Friday night, said sheriff’s department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer. Mulcahy told his daughter he was heading over to Anson’s Pub in Symerton, Hoffmeyer said.
The next day, Mulcahy had yet to return home. His Ford pickup truck was also missing.

Mulcahy’s daughter repeatedly attempted to contact him but her calls went straight to his voicemail, Hoffmeyer said. She also called Anson’s Pub and was told that Mulcahy did stop in Friday night but had not been seen since. She reported her father missing Sunday morning.
A search was launched around the area where the pickup was found in the ditch. Mulcahy’s body was about a quarter mile away.
Officials believe Mulcahy may have walked off after hitting his head in the crash, then succumbed to the cold.
The investigation remains active and toxicological tests have yet to be completed, said Coroner Patrick O’Neil.
