Meat-Smuggler Nabbed During Walmart Caper: Cops

A Bradley woman’s bid to boost frozen meat from the New Lenox Walmart failed Friday and ended with her arrest, police said.

Donna Melton, 57, was charged with theft shortly before 5 p.m.

An officer was sent to the East Lincoln Highway superstore to look into a report of someone stealing. Once there, the officer was told “Melton removed meat from the freezer, concealed it in her purse and left the store without paying for the merchandise,” police said.

Melton was released on her own recognizance.
