Mike Kelley appears to have beaten lame-duck Sheriff Paul Kaupas' cousin to take over the department.

Two weeks after Election Day, Democrat Mike Kelley appears to have triumphed over lame-duck Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas’ cousin.
Kelley, a sergeant and detective with the sheriff’s department, was losing to Republican Ken Kaupas when the polls closed Nov. 4. At that time, Ken Kaupas had pulled in 92,979 votes to Kelley’s 92,737.
Provisional and absentee ballots were added a week later. In a stunning reversal, Kelley totaled 94,420 and Ken Kaupas got only 94,022.
