Mokena Couple Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A Mokena couple is dead in what police Tuesday are investigating as a murder-suicide.

The bodies of Bill Swearingen, 76, and Diane Swearingen, 72, were found inside their home in the 19600 block of Beechnut Drive Monday night. Police responded to the scene after a 911 call in which Swearingen reportedly told dispatchers that he had killed his wife, according to radio reports. Police say the man shot his wife, then himself.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene at 2:10 a.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office.
