New Lenox Approves Lincoln Station Apartment Complex
The board has approved 220 apartment units on the 15.91 acre site near the Metra train station.
NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox village board approved the annexation and a special use for a preliminary planned unit of development for Lincoln Station at its Feb. 24 meeting. The property was originally approved for apartments in 2015, but was denied an extension of the special use permit in 2017, and the project was shelved.
Now, the board has approved 220 apartment units on the 15.91 acre site near the Metra train station. Board documents state there will be five buildings, and each building can have a maximum of 44 units. All buildings will also be three stories; and there will be a mix of apartments, including one bedroom, 2 bedroom and studio.
Lincoln Station is also planning a private clubhouse, outdoor swimming pool, bocce ball court, play areas, volleyball court, pergolas, fire pit, gardens and benches at the complex.

"I've seen a lot of transit-oriented developments and transit-adjacent developments, and as long as it's done right, it's a good fit," said Trustee Keith Madsen, who worked for Metra for 14 years.
"We think this will be good for the area, good for redevelopment in the area," Mayor Tim Baldermann said.
