New Lenox Crime Blotter Includes Phone Scam Attempt
Here's some of the crimes the New Lenox Police Department have investigated as of late.

NEW LENOX, IL - The following incident of criminal activity has been investigated by the New Lenox Police Department so far this month.
SEPT. 3
Police were dispatched to Spencer Trail School in reference to two ATV vehicles driving around on the property. The officer arrived on scene but the ATVs were gone. The officer noticed tire tracks and damage to the grass on the soccer fields.

SEPT. 4
Police were dispatched to Ferro Drive in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone stole three sewer covers from the area.

Police were on patrol and observed a vehicle with an equipment violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Cristina Cunningham, 33, 200 block of East Webster, Joliet. The officer learned Cunningham had a suspended driver’s license. Cunningham posted bond and was released.

SEPT. 7
Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Regent Street for a deceptive practice complaint. The complainant advised that they received a phone call from someone claiming to a sergeant with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. The caller told the complainant that they had an outstanding warrant for their arrest and instructed the complainant to buy $2,000 worth of gift cards to take of the warrants. The complainant realized this was a scam before they suffered any monetary loss.
SEPT. 8
Police were dispatched to Walmart. The complainant advised that the male offender stole a shopping cart full of meat from the store. The value of the stolen meat was not available at the time of the report.
Police were running radar and observed a vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Ilene Lehane, 65, Manhattan. The officer learned that Lehane was driving under the influence of alcohol. Lehane was transported to the NLPD. Lehane posted bond and was released.
SEPT. 9
The officer was on patrol conducted a random registration check on a vehicle’s registration on Nelson Road. The officer learned that the registered owner of the vehicle, Patrick Bailey, 54, Galesburg, IL, had an active outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer observed the driver of the vehicle matched the provided description of the owner. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver/owner, Patrick Bailey. The officer confirmed the warrant and Bailey was transported to the NLPD. Bailey posted bond and was released.
SEPT. 10
Police were dispatched to the area of Joliet Highway and Mallard Drive for a vehicle that drove into a reservoir. The officer located the vehicle and the driver, Anthony Grieco, 25. The officer learned that Grieco was driving under the influence of alcohol. The officer further learned that Grieco had struck a light pole a block away prior to driving into the reservoir. Grieco was transported to the NLPD. Grieco posted bond and was released.
