New Lenox Farmer to Fight Will County on Eminent Domain

According to the Chicago Tribune, the county filed a lawsuit to close off a private drive to a mushroom farm in New Lenox Township.

When the development of Naperville moved mushroom farmer Janina Styzinski to New Lenox Township, she thought she found the perfect space.

But according to The Chicago Tribune, she's facing an eminent domain lawsuit from Will County to close off the private drive to her farm, which is off Laraway Road in New Lenox Township.

A new subdivision to the east of the farm needs an access road to Laraway, which puts the private drive only 40 feet from the planned intersection. According to the Tribune, Will County officials say that's too close for comfort and that the private road must go.

According to the article, Styzinski has already spent thousands of dollars to keep it the private drive. In 2005, the village of Frankfort filed a lawsuit seeking to use it as a temporary construction access.
